Hero MotoCorp forays into Middle East market with Al Futtaim
India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp has set foot in the Gulf to sell its motorcycles there. It has entered the Middle East market with seven new models. The distribution of Hero motorcycles in the UAE will be carried out by Dubai’s Al Futtaim.
The Indian manufacturer inaugurated its first showroom last month, besides launching the seven new models. It will also set up showrooms in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar in its next phase.
Hero MotoCorp will begin selling the Pleasure, Glamour, Hunk, Karizma R, Thriller Sport, Duet and Dash in the UAE. Al Futtaim is the conglomerate that offers commercial support services, which is set to distribute these seven Hero motorcycle models in the UAE. The Middle East conglomerate already enjoys partnerships with Toyota and Lexus brands, along with Hino trucks.
The Hero and Honda split came due to the Hero MotoCorp’s own goals of a global expansion in which it has succeeded to a large extent. Hero MotoCorp currently enjoys presence in over 33 countries across the globe. It has also ventured into Colombia with a manufacturing plant, besides India, while another one is coming up in Bangladesh.
Hero MotoCorp is sure to make a mark in the Middle East, as there is a huge population of Indian emigrants living in these countries. Their familiarity with the brand is likely to make it even more popular. So, this is likely to help accelerate the growth of the Hero brand in the Gulf. The Indian two-wheeler manufacturer also has some innovative marketing strategies up its sleeves as sponsoring sports events as cricket, football, golf and field hockey.
