Showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in Greater Noida, the Fiat Urban Cross will finally be launched in September 2016. While taking inspiration after the Fiat Punto hatchback, the Fiat Urban Cross shares its underpinnings with the Fiat Avventura crossover.
Now, the Urban Cross looks swanky and stylish, compared to the older Fiat models, as the carmaker has been constantly blamed for lack of styling. So, the latest iteration will sport a few obvious changes from the Avventura.
Realizing that front grilles make the best statement, the Urban Cross sports a subtle yet aesthetic grille above even subtly placed air dams. The headlamps are slightly sweptback while the fog lamps are prominently placed within the bumper.
The rear, meanwhile, removes the spare tyre that was mounted on the tail of the Avventura. On the top, we have the attractive silver finish roof rail. The large 17-inch alloy wheels with the flower-petal design are the most distinct feature that you can see of the side profiles. Finally, the insides, with dual-tone interior, sport touchscreen infotainment with GPS Navigation and Bluetooth, AUX connectivity.
Mechanically speaking, the 1.4-litre T-jet petrol motor of the Avventura will power the Urban Cross as well. The Abarth powered mill is tuned to develop 138 hp and 210 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Fiat Urban Cross is expected to be priced around Rs. 9-10 lakhs.
