The 2019 Captur now gets rear parking sensors, driver and co-driver seatbelt reminder and speed alert as standard. Meanwhile, safety tech such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, ISOFIX child seat anchors, auto door lock, rear defogger and rear wiper with washer were already available across all variants. Renault claims the updated Captur meets frontal, lateral and pedestrian safety crash norms.

The 7-inch touchscreen MediaNAV system on the Captur has been updated with voice recognition, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also features an Eco Guide system that monitors driving pattern and provide guidelines to the driver to help improve fuel efficiency.

The top-spec Platine variant, which is finally available with the petrol engine, continues to be equipped with auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, rear parking camera with guidelines and cruise control with speed limiter. The new auto-folding ORVMs with a welcome function are synced with the smart key’s walk-away lock function. It also gets full LED headlamps, LED DRLs and 17-inch alloys.

There are no mechanical changes to the 2019 Renault Captur, which is still powered by a set of 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. The petrol unit is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and produces 106PS of power and 142Nm of torque while the diesel produces 110PS and 240Nm, mated to a 6-speed manual. There is no automatic transmission option on offer with the Captur. With this 2019 update, it resumes its rivalry with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross and Nissan Kicks.
