Husqvarna launch in India next year
Rahul Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto, has confirmed that Bajaj will launch the Swedish brand Husqvarna in India in January 2017. Husqvarna is owned by KTM -- a company that has Bajaj Auto as a shareholder. Earlier this year, it was reported that Bajaj was in talks to ride the Swedish brand which is being refreshed by KTM to India. Rahul Bajaj's announcement has confirmed the speculations. KTM CEO,Stefan Pierer, had said that the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 would share the same platform as the 2017 KTM 390 Duke. Both the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and Svartpilen 401 will be manufactured at Bajaj's Chakan plant. The design and product positioning would be the only factor differentiating the pair from the Duke 390.The production of the new Husqvarna in India made it logical for the Swedish brand to introduce it in the Indian market.
The Husqvarna range of motorcycles will be sold via the official KTM dealerships across the country which in its Pro Biking store avatar also sells CKD Kawasaki motorcycles. The Husqvarna duo will be positioned as a premium offering over the KTM 390 Duke. The production-spec version of the Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 and the Svartpilen 401 will be officially revealed at the 2016 EICMA motorcycle show in Italy later this year.
