Mahindra & Mahindra has already displayed its XUV Aero concept coupe at the Auto Expo 2016, February but still they are pondering about the sales and marketing of the car in the Indian market.
Dr Pawan Goenka, executive director, M&M said that though they want to launch it but before launching it to the Indian market they need to think about its business viability. Dr Goenka also cited that the Indian market will not encourage any local manufacturers to launch premium products because the volumes do not justify the required investment.
Only foreign manufacturers can launch these kinds of premium products as their home countries are far advanced and provide all kinds of supports to the manufacturers.
The XUV Aero is based on its popular SUV XUV 500. The car possesses certain exclusive features like suicide door on one side and shares styling elements with the Mahindra SUV. The exquisite design of the car has been created by the Mahindra Group-owned Italian design firm Pininfarina.
This car is a multiple driven model and possesses different modes like Race, Off-Road, Street and Sport. Moreover, the car also owns a 210bhp mHawk engine.
At present, some premium brands like Mercedes and BMW with the GLE Coupe and the X6 have only secured their place for the coupé-SUV segment in India. With this new XUV Aero, Mahindra is also aiming to make its entry into this niche segment.
It is certainly true that the XUV Aero is definitely going to be an upmarket offering and will sit above the XUV500 SUV.
