Updated Hyundai i20 Active launched in India
Hyundai has launched the refreshed i20 Active in India. The updated cross-hatch is not entirely based on the Elite i20 facelift, which was launched at the Auto Expo 2018. Instead, it looks identical to the previous model. The prices of the i20 Active remain unchanged as well with a price tag ranging between Rs 6.99 lakh and Rs 9.77 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). The updated i20 Active renews its rivalry against the Honda WR-V, Fiat Avventura and the Tata Nexon.
What’s new?
The i20 Active gets a new dual-tone colour option (Marina Blue with Polar White roof) which is offered only on the top-spec SX variant. To put things into perspective, the Elite i20 offers three options (red- and orange-black, along with white-black) on its second most loaded variant.
Gets a new boot lid applique with ‘Active’ label
Offers Hyundai's latest 7-inch infotainment system with an improved display compared to the previous unit, same as the Elite i20 facelift. Also new, is the Arkamys tuned sound system and an Android app-based remote
The front armrest can now slide to-and-fro, while it also has a new rear armrest now that features cup holders, same as the Elite i20
The cabin gets new exterior colour-coded accents and upholstery
ISOFIX child seat anchors are now offered with the top-spec SX variant
Rest of the equipment list is similar to the previous model
The recently revealed 2018 Euro-spec i20 Active gets a redesigned boot lid that now houses the licence plate, same as the Elite i20 facelift. Hyundai has, however, not offered the same with the 2018 i20 Active here. Moreover, the Euro-spec 2018 Elite i20 and i20 Active also get LED elements in the tail lamps that are again missing in the models sold here. In fact, the India-spec i20 Active has carried forward the same set of tail lamps, while the Elite i20 facelift offers updated units with refreshed interior elements.
Mechanically, the i20 Active remains unaltered and is powered by the 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.4-litre diesel. The petrol is mated to a 5-speed manual, while the diesel is coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission.
