Anthropic's AI Plug-ins Shake India's IT Sector; Stocks Dive 6%

The Indian IT sub‑index was on track for its worst day since March 2020, with all 10 constituents in the red.
Mumbai: Indian IT companies shares dropped 7-8 per cent on Anthropic's new AI based software launch, a looming threat to service focused jobs at Indian IT companies.
Anthropic, known for its Claude chatbot, released 11 open-source plugins for its Claude Cowork tool on Friday, January 30.
NSE IT index fell more than 7 per cent and was down close to 6 per cent around 2 PM IST as all index constituents were down between 3.84 per cent to 7.29 per cent.
The losers included IT blue chips TCS(-6.95 per cent), Infosys(-7.29 per cent), Wipro(-4.09 per cent), HCL Technologies(-4.86 per cent), LTI Mindtree(-5.93 per cent) and Coforge(-6.55 per cent).
Tech focused Nasdaq Composite index fell 1.43 per cent in overnight trade ahead of crucial earnings declaration by top AI focused companies. The loser included Nvidia(-2.84 per cent), Adobe(-7.31 per cent), Meta(-2.08 per cent), Microsoft(-2.87 per cent) and Amazon(-1.79 per cent).
