Mumbai: Akshay Kumar’s ‘Airlift’ has been released today and it is about India’s biggest and most successful rescue operation. It revolves around India’s largest evacuation of 1,70,000 citizens from Kuwait.
Scriptwriters Suresh Nair, Rahul Nangia, Ritesh Shah and director Raja Krishna Menon had researched the real behind the reel, and the entire length of Saddam Hussain's invasion of the gulf country.
While the team was conducting their research, Menon came across two men- Sunny Mathews and Vedi during his research . These two men were a part of an unofficial committee, who carried out the rescue work. Akshay’s character of Ranjit Katyal is based on these tow men.
Recently, the granddaughter of Sunny Mathews, Rhea posted an emotional Facebook status remembering her grandfather. Here’s what she wrote.
