It's official! They are no more Mr and Mrs Akhtar
Mumbai: After several months of speculations, it has been confirmed that Bollywood actor-director Farhan Akhtar and wife Adhuna have decided to go their separate ways after 15 years of marriage.
The couple issued an official statement which read, "This is to announce that we, Adhuna and Farhan, have mutually and amicably decided to separate. Our children remain our priority and it is immensely important to us, as responsible parents, that they be protected from unwarranted speculation and public glare. We sincerely request that we are given the privacy that is required at this time to move forward in a dignified manner."
Several incidents fueled the reports of their separation, one being- Adhuna’s absence during the release of Farhan's film, 'Wazir'. Not only this, the actor-singer-director was also spotted alone at Dabboo Ratnani's calendar launch and Hrithik Roshan's birthday bash despite the couple being good friends of the actor.
Farhan and Adhuna met during the making of ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ and decided to tie the knot in 2000 after dating for three years. Adhuna has been an integral part and creative source of every Farhan Akhtar film, whether he acted, directed or produced it. The two are blessed with two daughters- Shakya and Akira.
