Raghu and I are each other's support system: Sugandha
Mumbai: Sugandha Garg, who has announced her split from her husband Raghu Ram after 10 years of marriage, says they are still each other's support system.
Sugandha, who made her Bollywood debut in 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na', was married to TV producer Raghu of 'Roadies' fame.
We were the first ones to report the news of Raghu and Sugandha parting ways. Sugandha said, "We are still each other's support system. Raghu and I have been on this together. I would have been all lost had Raghu not been the support that he has been to me."
She believes their relationship is currently going to a different phase and considers Raghu her oldest friend. "How difficult it is to remain friends that time will tell. But he is someone I've known since a long time, for 14 years now. He is my oldest friend. And that is a fact I know nobody can change," she said.
"For someone who has been a part of your life, you can't just end all contact and cut all relations. Our relationship is not ending, it is changing. It's going through another phase," the actress said.
Sugandha will be next seen in upcoming film 'Jugni', in which she plays a free-spirited music composer who goes to Punjab to break out of her monotonous life only to fall in love and face new complications.
The actress said it was 'Roadies' host Ranvijay Singh who suggested her name to debutante director Shefali Bhushan. "Ranvijay suggested me to do this film as he was in talks for it much earlier. Since it was the role of a music composer, I took my guitar for the audition. Fortunately for me, Shefali and I connected not only as director-actor, but also as musicians."
Even though she has appeared in films like 'My Name is Khan' and 'Tere Bin Laden', 'Jugni' marks Sugandha's first solo commercial film. "Now I realise how stressful it is to have a big solo film... Why people visit temple, mosque, church before a release. I am confident about the film. It is a small movie made with a lot of integrity," she said.
Sugandha hopes the movie brings around a change in her career just like 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na', for whose audition she had carried her guitar too. "Life has come a full circle. I hope the audience likes the film," she said. 'Jugni' releases on January 22.
