Andhra CM Seeks Singapore’s Support In Green Energy, Data Centres And Logistics in AP

On his second day here, Naidu met with senior officials from the Housing Development Board (HDB), the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), the Singapore Corporation Enterprise, and the World Bank, according to a press release

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu met the Singapore minister for manpower and minister-in-charge for energy and science and technology, Tan See Leng, in Singapore on Monday.

During the second day of his visit, the chief minister sought Singapore’s collaboration in sectors like green energy, data centres, logistics and housing in AP.

In a meeting held with the minister Leng at the ministry of trade and industry, Naidu dwelt at length on AP’s major initiatives in green energy and sought greater support from the Singapore firms in projects related to green hydrogen, transmission corridors and port development.

Leng noted Singapore’s ongoing collaboration with the World Bank on green energy and housing related programmes. Reminiscing his earlier visit to Hyderabad and his association with CM Naidu, the minister expressed optimism to deepen bilateral cooperation between Singapore and AP.

Naidu laid stress on Singapore’s support to establish Data centres and for rapid expansion of port infrastructure. He sought Singapore’s support in implementing the best practices in the ports and logistics sectors in AP and called for its involvement in human resources, science and technology and trade collaboration.

Referring to the concerns of the Singaporean companies that faced odds here during the YSR Congress rule, the CM assured minister Leng that this would not happen again. “We have put in place certain mechanisms to resolve such issues,” he said.

Naidu made it clear that the TD-led state government was investment-friendly and assured the island nation that “we would value our relationship with Singapore greatly.”

The CM recalled development of a Singapore Township in Hyderabad during his earlier stint as chief minister. This, he said, was conceived as a symbol of AP’s admiration for Singapore’s planning and efficiency. He attributed credit to Singapore for adopting the practice of night-time cleaning of streets in Hyderabad during his tenure there.

Naidu extended a formal invitation to minister Leng for the Global Investors Summit in Visakhapatnam in November. The Singapore minister, in his reply, expressed a keen interest to work with AP in the fields of housing and subsea cables. He said both AP and Singapore could pursue the initiatives jointly.

The meeting was attended also by AP ministers Nara Lokesh, P Narayana and TG Bharat along with senior officials from the state government.
