Indian Citizen Among 12 Killed in Russian Strikes on Ukraine
Russian Missile And Drone Strikes Hit Kyiv And Other Parts Of Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday said an Indian citizen was among at least 12 people killed in a wave of Russian overnight missile and drone attacks across Ukraine.
The attacks targeted Kyiv and several other parts of the country, with civilian infrastructure and residential areas damaged. Ukrainian authorities said the strikes also injured several people.
Zelenskyy said the latest attacks involved missiles and drones launched by Russia overnight. The strikes came as Russian aerial attacks on Kyiv and surrounding areas entered their sixth consecutive day.
In Kyiv, eight people were killed and five others injured, including children, according to Ukrainian emergency authorities. Another person was killed in Boryspil in the Kyiv region, where several people were also injured.
Zelenskyy's statement put the nationwide death toll from the overnight attacks at 12. Ukrainian officials have reported damage to residential buildings and other infrastructure in the Kyiv region.
The latest strikes came amid an intensification of Russian aerial attacks in recent days. Zelenskyy had earlier said Russia launched nearly 1,500 drones at Ukraine over four days, with more than half of them jet-powered.
The attacks took place a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine, saying the conflict must end for the sake of humanity.
