Ukraine: One person was killed and several others were injured after a Russian drone struck an Indian pharmaceutical company’s facility in Ukraine.

According to reports, the main structure of the pharmaceutical plant was severely damaged in the attack. Thick smoke was seen billowing from the facility following the strike.

Preliminary reports suggest that property worth nearly Rs.400 crore was damaged in the incident.

Further details regarding the attack, the identity of the deceased and the condition of those injured are awaited.

The Kusum Group began its operations in 1994 by exporting medicines from India to Ukraine. The company is currently run by Indian national Rajeev Gupta. In 2002, the company shifted its focus towards manufacturing generic medicines independently.

In 2007, Kusum Group established a manufacturing plant in India, followed by another facility in the Sumy region of Ukraine in 2009. The company later established two more manufacturing facilities in India.

Kusum Group manufactures more than 50 pharmaceutical products, most of which are generic medicines. Its products are sold in more than nine countries, with Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and the Philippines being among its key markets.
