A Secret Service agent protecting Vice President JD Vance is under investigation over allegations of leaking sensitive security and travel information.

A United States Secret Service agent assigned to Vice President JD Vance's protective detail is under administrative investigation and may also face a criminal inquiry over allegations of compromising operational and information security, according to the agency.

The investigation follows the publication of a report by MS Now detailing concerns among agents assigned to Vance's security team, including claims that they were frustrated by last-minute travel arrangements. The report specifically mentioned plans to transport Vance's son by Marine Corps helicopter for a golf lesson, a trip that was later cancelled due to severe thunderstorms.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the publication of the operational details triggered concern among the Secret Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and White House officials, who viewed the disclosure as a potential security risk.

Officials believe the agent under investigation may have provided information that appeared in the report. Investigators have reportedly identified the individual suspected of leaking the sensitive details.

The MS Now report also alleged that morale was deteriorating among agents assigned to protect the Vice President and his family, citing frustrations over demanding schedules and rapidly changing travel plans.

The Secret Service has not disclosed the identity of the agent or provided further details on the ongoing investigation. If evidence of criminal wrongdoing is established, the inquiry could lead to prosecution.
