PM Modi Arrives in Brasilia, Interacts with Indian Diaspora

During the State Visit, PM Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Lula on expanding the India–Brazil Strategic Partnership

Brasilia [Brazil]: Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted and interacted with members of the Indian diaspora upon his arrival at a hotel in Brasilia on Monday (local time). Members of the Indian community, carrying Indian flags, had gathered outside the hotel to welcome PM Modi. He also interacted warmly with children who came to greet him.

PM Modi witnessed a cultural performance upon arrival at the hotel and appreciated the artists. He later interacted with them and posed for a group photograph. A spiritual performance was also held in his honour.
Prime Minister Modi arrived in Brasilia on Monday evening for his State Visit to Brazil. He was received at the airport by Brazil's Minister of Defence, Jose Mucio Monteiro Filho. A traditional Brazilian Samba Reggae performance added a musical touch to the ceremonial welcome.
PM Modi travelled to Brazil at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. He arrived in Brasilia after attending the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro from July 6–7.
In a post on X, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal wrote, "Taking new strides in India-Brazil steadfast partnership. PM @narendramodi has landed in the capital city of Brasilia on a State Visit to Brazil. On arrival, he was warmly received by Mr. Jose Mucio Monteiro Filho, Minister of Defence of Brazil, at the airport. The welcome was made delightfully musical by the traditional Brazilian Samba Reggae performance."
During the State Visit, PM Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Lula on expanding the India–Brazil Strategic Partnership in areas such as trade, defence, energy, space, technology, agriculture, health, and people-to-people ties.
Reflecting on the Rio de Janeiro leg of his Brazil visit, PM Modi described it as "very productive." He said extensive discussions took place at the BRICS Summit and that his bilateral meetings with global leaders would strengthen India's ties with various nations.
In a video shared on social media, PM Modi highlighted his participation in the BRICS Summit, bilateral meetings, and the warm reception by the Indian diaspora in Rio.
He wrote, "The Rio leg of my Brazil visit was very productive. We had extensive deliberations at the BRICS Summit. I compliment President Lula and the Brazilian Government for the work they've done through their BRICS Presidency in making this platform even more effective. My bilateral meetings with world leaders will also boost India's friendship with various nations."
"Now on the way to Brasilia for the State Visit. Will hold detailed talks with President Lula on different aspects of India-Brazil ties," PM Modi added.
Earlier, PM Modi, along with other BRICS leaders and outreach invitees, took part in the traditional family photo at the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
PM Modi had arrived in Brazil after concluding his visit to Argentina, where he held a bilateral meeting with President Javier Milei. After Brazil, he is scheduled to visit Namibia on July 9, where he will also address the Namibian Parliament.
