33 workers trapped after explosion in China coal mine

The gas explosion took place at Jinshangou Coal Mine in Laisu Town, Yongchuan District when 35 miners were working in the shaft.

Beijing: As many as 33 miners were on Monday trapped underground due to an explosion in a coal mine in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, local authorities said.

The gas explosion took place at Jinshangou Coal Mine in Laisu Town, Yongchuan District when 35 miners were working in the shaft.

Two were hoisted to safety while rescuers were searching for those trapped underground, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
