Kulbushan Jadhav granted consular access

The ICJ had asked Pakistan to grant consular access to Jadhav. It also directed to give him the option of review in sentence.

Islamabad:  Pakistan on Thursday granted consular access to Indian prisoner Kulbushan Jadhav under the International Court of Justice (ICJ) decision announced on July 17.  

“Pursuant to the decision of the ICJ, Commander Kulbushan Jadhav has been informed of his rights under Article 36, Paragraph 1(b) of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations,” said a foreign ministry statement issued here at midnight.

As a responsible state, it said, “Pakistan will grant consular access to Commander Kulbushan Jadhav according to Pakistani laws, for which modalities are being worked out.” The ICJ had asked Pakistan to grant consular access to Jadhav. It also directed to give him the option of review in sentence.
