Do Not To Hire Indians, Trump Tells US Tech Giants
Addressing an AI Summit, he said US companies should create jobs at home instead of constructing factories in China and generating employment to tech workers from India
US President Donald Trump has sent a strong message to US tech giants that they should stop hiring Indians. In tune with his Make America Great Again (MAGA) campaign, Trump opposed the global mindset of the US firms, which is making Americans feel ignored.
Addressing an AI Summit held in Washington on Wednesday, he said US companies should create jobs at home instead of constructing factories in China and generating employment to tech workers from India. He said that several tech firms invested heavily outside of America, despite profiting from the American freedom. Under President Trump, those days are over, he said.
He criticized the US tech firms for reaping benefits from the American freedom but not giving importance to Americans. "We want you to put America first. You have to do that. That's all we ask," he said.
The US President said that winning the AI race would demand a new spirit of patriotism and national loyalty in Silicon Valley and beyond.
At the Summit, Trump signed three executive orders, national strategy to boost AI development and reduce hurdles that are slowing down the country's progress. The remaining two orders include urging companies to get federal funding to develop AI to create politically neutral models and providing aid, export and full stack to American-made AI tools.
Trump made it clear that his government would not support "woke" AI models. At the AI Summit, Trump emphasized on "Winning The Race", which aims at making America an AI hub. He asked the tech firms to build data centres necessary for AI to make it easy for companies to build the infra needed for AI.
