Bhatti Presents Telangana’s Clean Energy Push At Berkeley
Bhatti outlined Telangana’s renewable‑energy model
HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka visited the India Energy and Climate Centre (IECC) under the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley, during his ongoing US tour, where officials and researchers discussed strategies to help India achieve its target of 500 GW of non‑fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and plans to make Telangana a global clean‑energy hub.
Discussions covered the falling costs of clean technology as well as grid modernisation, industrial decarbonisation, advanced battery‑storage systems, and an equitable energy transition. Bhatti outlined Telangana’s renewable‑energy model, highlighting its transparent green policy, efforts to attract investment, and rapid expansion of solar and other renewable capacity.
The meeting agreed to draw on Silicon Valley innovation and California’s energy experience. Telangana and UC Berkeley will explore studies in electricity, transport, and climate resilience, along with policymaker training, to strengthen security and competitiveness.
Bhatti said women’s self‑help groups in rural areas were being involved in managing solar projects, while the PM‑KUSUM scheme was helping farmers access clean energy. He also highlighted the 24‑hour quality power supply and measures to promote clean‑tech manufacturing.
