Memphis: A video, showing an elderly couple passed out on the street in Tennessee in the United States due to a heroin overdose, went viral after it was posted on Facebook Live on Monday.

According to a report in Daily Mail, the video shows a woman, identified as 59-year-old Carla Hiers, collapsed on her knees in a semi-conscious state on the side walk in Memphis, while her husband is lying unconscious nearby.

The video, taken by a bystander, also shows passers-by laughing at the couple. Some others were also seen making videos of the duo.

Hiers and her husband were later taken to a hospital by paramedics, who arrived at the scene after someone called 911. They told police that they had snorted drugs in the bathroom of a nearby Walgreens pharmacy.

Police took Hiers in custody as there was an arrest warrant for her. She had been jailed in the past as well for theft, drug possession and fraud.

Courtland Garner, who posted the video on Facebook, said he laughed at the couple but he was trying to make a serious point by posting the video online.

“I know for a fact all the kids are on social media, and when kids see that video, you know what they are going to say? I don't want to look stupid like that I don't want to do those drugs,” he said.
