Veteran Actress B Saroja Devi Dies
She died due to age-related ailments at her residence in Malleswaram, Bengaluru, according to sources.

Bengaluru: Veteran actor B. Saroja Devi (87) died on Monday in Bengaluru at around 8.30 am owing to age-related illness. Her final rites will be conducted at Dasahavara in Channapatna of Ramnagar district on Tuesday and the mortal remains were kept at her residence in Bengaluru for public viewing.
She was regarded as ‘Abhinaya Saraswati' and her career spread across 7 decades in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi in over 200 films. Her role as ‘Rani Chennamma’ in Kannada movie ‘Kittur Chennamma’ won her accolades. She acted with Tamil superstar MGR, Kannada thespian actor Dr Rajkumar, Gemini Ganesan, NT Ramarao in Telugu and Dilip Kumar in Hindi.
Her career began with the film ‘Mahakavi Kalidasa’ when she was 17. Her noted films in Kannada include ‘Anna Tangi,’ ‘Bettada Hoovu,’ ‘Kasturi Nivasa,’ ‘Babruvahana,’ ‘Katha Sangama,’ ‘Amara Shilpi Jakannachari,’ among others. She is a recipient of Padma Shri (1969), Padma Bhushan (1992)
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Union Minister of Large Scale Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy, Leader of Opposition in Assembly R. Ashoka among other dignitaries condoled the death of Saroja Devi.
