ACB Arrests Engineer, Finds Massive Assets
The ACB booked a case of disproportionate assets against Ambedkar Erugu for having acquired several assets
Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials seized Rs 2.18 crore in cash and unearthed disproportionate assets during raids at the residence of Ambedkar Erugu, assistant divisional engineer (operations), TGSPDCL, Ibrahimbagh, on Tuesday. A case of disproportionate assets to known sources of income has been registered against Erugu for allegedly amassing wealth through unlawful means. Raids were conducted simultaneously at his residence in Gachibowli and at 10 other locations linked to him and his relatives.
The ACB said the searches led to the seizure of documents relating to multiple properties, including a flat in Serilingampally, a G+5 building in Gachibowli, six prime residential open plots in Hyderabad, a farmhouse and 10 acres of land housing a company titled Amthar Chemicals in the officer’s name. Officials also recovered two four-wheelers, gold ornaments, bank deposits and incriminating material. Cash was also found at the house of a suspected benami.
“Preliminary findings show that the officer abused his official position to acquire movable and immovable assets disproportionate to his known income. The market value is expected to be much higher than the official estimates,” the ACB said in a release.
Erugu was arrested, produced before the ACB special court, and remanded to judicial custody. Searches are continuing and further investigation is underway.
The ACB urged the public to report instances of bribery on its toll-free number 1064 or through WhatsApp (9440446106), Facebook (Telangana ACB) or X/Twitter (@TelanganaACB). “The identity of complainants will be kept confidential,” the release stated.
