Meta is reportedly testing a new experiment that limits the number of links users can post on its social media platform Facebook, a move that could impact creators and brands that rely on link-sharing to reach wider audiences.
According to a report by TechCrunch, users part of the test can post only two links, unless they subscribe to Meta Verified, the company’s paid subscription service. Meta Verified plans start at ₹639 per month and can go up to ₹21,000 per month, depending on the package.
Meta clarified that while link limits apply to posts, users can still post links freely in the comments section.
The company confirmed the test to TechCrunch, stating that it currently affects users who use professional Mode and Facebook Pages. Professional Mode allows individuals to convert their personal profiles into creator profiles, offering tools to grow reach and monetize content.
“This is a limited test to understand whether the ability to publish an increased volume of posts with links adds additional value for Meta Verified subscribers,” a Meta spokesperson told TechCrunch.
Meta added that the experiment is part of its broader effort to increase the value of the Meta Verified subscription. The company also clarified that publishers are not included in this test.
