Gionee S6s as a High CRI front flash and a screen flash.

Gionee, has just unveiled the selfie-focused S6s. We got a chance to try out this new device and here’s what we think:

Though optimised for selfies, the S6s has the standard spec of 13 megapixels for the rear and 8 megapixels for the front camera. It features a High CRI (colour rendering index) front flash and a screen flash, useful during low light conditions. There are also few editing options like real-time filters and the Face Beauty 2.0 technology. The rear camera comes with a SONY IMX258 sensor, f2.0 aperture and LED flash.

The S6s has AA fingerprint sensor at the back, which also acts as a button to click photos. We found that sometimes the sensor recognises your fingerprints too quickly and the result is a blurred or shaken image. The curved metal unibody comes in two colours, giving it a premium look. The display is 5.5-inch full HD with 2.5D Corning Gorilla glass for screen protection.

The S6s runs on a MediaTek 1.3 GHz, octa-core processor with 3GB RAM. It is powered by Gionee’s Amigo 3.2 operating system. The 32GB internal storage is expandable up to 128GB. The device packs a decent battery of 3150 mAh. It is a dual-SIM device with slots for micro as well as nano SIM. It supports both 4G and VoLTE. Though Gionee has presented the S6s as a selfie-optimised phone, we think that its spec sheet makes it a device that offers more. Priced at Rs 17,999, it is now available on Amazon.
