Manufacturers may be in the race to be the first to introduce 5G smartphones, but Apple is unlikely to be among the first.

Apple is Intel’s primary mobile phone customer and now an executive has revealed that the 5G modems won’t be available in the market until 2020, The Verge reported.

This basically means no 5G iPhone for a year more.

There have been multiple other reports in Bloomberg and Fast Company, making similar claims about iPhones with 5G modems being a slightly distant reality.

Intel’s update on the late availability of the modem indicates Apple will once again take the slower route and wait for the technology to be perfect. Meanwhile, Samsung, Xiaomi, and Motorola are all introducing their 5G-enabled phones this year.
