Every year Apple brings new upgrades in the digital voice assistant Siri, but this year it is tipped to undergo a revamp.

Apple had acquired an Australian-based machine learning startup Turi in August 2016 to further strengthen the functionality of Siri. People familiar with the matter told DigitTimes that Apple’s next-generation iPhone devices are likely to come with an enhanced Siri.

Apple is also looking forward to strengthen its market share with its intelligent personal assistant.

The idea to ramp up market share in 2017 through introducing models featuring AI assistance is not restricted to only Apple, but other smartphone makers including Samsung Electronics, Huawei, LG Electronics and Xiaomi are also considering putting AI on board.

Samsung is also working to launch an AI-based voice service, named the Bixby, which is expected to debut on Samsung’s latest flagship Samsung S8.  While the Huawei’s released U Ultra and U Play already comes up with AI on board. Meanwhile, LG is in talks with Amazon and Google about bringing Google Assistant or Alexa to LG G6, which is slated to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February.
