When it comes to reducing the gap between multiple platforms, Microsoft is a name that comes to the forefront. After the massive failure of their Windows Mobile platform, the company has taken upon itself the mission to unite the dominant mobile ecosystems with its Windows 10 desktop OS. Windows 10 has received several features that try to integrate Android and iOS like the way Apple does it for its own ecosystem. Microsoft is doing that once again by preparing another important app for download on its Microsoft Store that forms the lifeline of all iPhone and iPad users — iTunes.

A Reddit post by an Apple Care advisor has hinted that Apple’s iTunes will be rolled out on the Microsoft Store pretty soon as a Universal Windows Platform app (UWP). The app has been claimed to be released internally and could be made public within the next few weeks. “Just received training for the release, with wordage saying that it is already out. Can not find it on the store currently, but it must be very soon. I am an AppleCare advisor,” the post reads.

If you are an ‘idevice’ user, then you know that iTunes is already available as a Windows executable file and can be downloaded from Apple’s website. However, with the provision of the app on the Store, Apple will reach out to those who prefer the minimalist Windows 10 S — a toned down Windows 10 that foregoes support for x86 and x64 applications in favour of enhanced performance and security.

While the app is yet to be made official, you should know that the UWP app is claimed to takeover all the data from the previously-installed versions. “Upon launch, the program will detect any previous installations, migrate necessary data (libraries, iOS backups) and will then look and feel exactly like the installer version from the Apple website,” reads the post.
