If you are tired of the usual array of flagship killers such as the OnePlus 5T and Honor View 10, the S7 Edge should be a breath of fresh air with its flagship-class offerings for a relatively affordable price.

When it comes to rolling out the latest Android updates, Samsung likes to take some considerable time to release the latest software for their older handsets. Last year’s flagship Galaxy S8 and Note 8 started receiving the Oreo update earlier this year, which was almost 6 months after Google released it to the market. Samsung also promised to roll out the Oreo update for it 2016’s flagship Galaxy S7 series soon after, but the update hasn’t rolled out yet and is expected to take some more time before reaching the consumers.

According to reports from guncelmiyiz, the Oreo builds for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are still retained in the test phase. As per internal reports, the new release date for Oreo update will be approximately around 18 May. This still isn’t a confirmed date, which means that there’s a high uncertainty of this not being the final release date. Additionally, the date mentioned in this report refers to S7 units in Turkey, which means other global units of S7 could witness further delays.

Along with the S7 and S7 edge, the Oreo update schedule for the Galaxy Tab S3 9.7-inch LTE has also been scheduled for May 18. The Galaxy A3 2017, Galaxy A5 2017 and Galaxy A7 2017 are also expected to receive the Oreo update by the first week of June.
