If you prefer to consult Alexa for your day-to-day enquiries instead of Google's Assistant and have $150 lying around, then the Moto Smart Speaker will be a great buy.

When Motorola launched the Moto Z lineup of smartphones last year, they were adamant about the concept of Moto Mods becoming ‘the next thing’ in the world of smartphones. However, Moto Mods never caught up with the people, partly because of the high prices and partly because of a lack of variety in accessories. Motorola hasn’t given up yet and wants the Moto Mods to become a success in the future, which is why there’s a new Moto Mod in the market that aims to revolutionise the market.

The Moto Smart Speaker powered by Alexa is Amazon’s attempt at popularising their smart AI assistant to the masses. The mod is essentially an Amazon Echo Dot shaped in the outlines of the phone. There’s a powerful speaker that utilises the phone’s resources to become an Amazon Echo for any place you wished to take your Echo to. You even the familiar LED notification strip light at the back on the mod, albeit shaped in a rounded rectangular form.

If you prefer to consult Alexa for your day-to-day enquiries instead of Google’s Assistant and have $150 lying around, then the Moto Smart Speaker will be a great buy. However, if Amazon offered Alexa’s services in the form of a standalone app, like Microsoft’s Cortana, on Android, it would have caught on with the masses faster.
