Orange, blue, yellow or pink may be the new black, but our love for the actual dark shade will never go away. Micromax is the latest to go down this path for its YU series: Yureka Black is the revamped variant of last year’s Yureka.

It weighs 152g with 8.7mm thickness. The 5-inch display comes with full HD, 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution. We liked that it is compact and light: we were able to easily operate it with one hand. It comes with a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection and a fingerprint senor located at the front bottom of the device.

The Yureka Black is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor with 4GB RAM. Initially stocked with slightly older Android Marshmallow 6.0, Micromax has announced that it has rolled out the beta version of the latest Android Nougat-7.1.2 for this device. The 13MP rear camera with Sony’s IMX 258 sensor and F/2.0 aperture was able to capture some bright pictures with vivid details. It also has LED flash. The front camera of 8 megapixels with flash too, was able to get us some good selfies.

The internal storage of 32GB is expandable up to 64GB via Micro SD card. The device comes with a hybrid slot that can either accommodate two SIMs or single SIM with a memory card. The 3000mAh battery could last one entire day on a normal usage. The device supports 4G VoLTE.

If Micromax was planning a revamp of its YU series with the Yureka Black, then it has hit the right spot. Priced at Rs 8,999, this is one of the good value devices for the affordable segment.
