As the Apple event is just around the corner, leaks and details of the upcoming iPhones are coming thick and fast. While the 5.8-inch successor to the iPhone X is rumoured to be called the iPhone XS and the plus-sized 6.5-inch iPhone is expected to be named the iPhone XS Max, no word has been leaked on what Apple will call the budget-friendly 6.1-inch iPhone. However, a recent report by Bloomberg has revealed what this LCD handset will be called.

As per the report, people familiar with the matter have said, “Apple has considered calling the phone the "iPhone XR." So there you have it. When Apple does announce the budget LCD iPhone X, it will get a brand new name as opposed to rumours suggesting that the phone will be called the iPhone 9 or iPhone XC.

Elaborating on the features of the iPhone XR, the report states that its screen size will be roughly 6.1-inches and feature an LCD display as opposed to an OLED panel. To cut down on costs, the edges will be made of aluminum instead of stainless steel and in what may excite Apple fans, this handset will come in a variety of colours.

The expected price of this smartphone will be between USD 699 to USD 749 which translates to about Rs 50,625 to Rs 54,246. However, Apple is expected to face some delays with the launch of the iPhone XR as minor complications fitting backlights on the LCD screen have arisen. So Apple will launch their costlier models first and then gradually start selling the 6.1-inch iPhone XR. The lower-cost iPhone could ship in limited quantities initially to gauge demand of the more expensive largest new iPhone.
