Xiaomi’s MIUI 9 is an incremental upgrade to their proprietary custom Android software. Launched last month, the new OS is based on Android 7.0 Nougat and brings in a lot of new features to Xiaomi users in China. Xiaomi also released a video lately to demonstrate the faster app opening compared to Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Huawei’s P10. And now, a new report suggests that Xiaomi users will able to taste the new MIUI 9 from next week.

The report claims that Xiaomi’s current flagship — the Mi 6, and Redmi Note 4X will be the first to get the MIUI 9 update in China. Both of these smartphones sport the latest hardware and being the flagship models in their individual lineup, they will be getting the update before any other Xiaomi smartphone.

Another report from GizmoChina claims that Xiaomi official Weibo handle announced that the Mi 5 will be getting the MIUI 9 update by early next week. The Mi 5 was Xiaomi’s flagship smartphone in 2016 and is still the flagship device in markets like India. The Mi 5 is a very popular handset in China and Xiaomi decided to pamper Mi 5 users with MIUI 9 update before the scheduled date of sometime later in the next month.

However, it is to be noted that the MIUI 9 has only been released in China as of now. The company hasn’t revealed anything about the announcement of the Global ROM for MIUI 9, which will be rolled out to Xiaomi users in markets other than China. The Global MIUI 9 ROM is expected to feature support for Google apps along with support for local regional languages.
