Meta is planning to unveil its first-ever smart glasses with a display at its annual Connect conference in September, according to a report by CNBC.
Meta Connect 2025, a two-day conference for developers focusing on virtual reality, augmented reality, and the metaverse, is scheduled to take place on September 17 and 18.
The tech giant is expected to announce two new devices at the event, including the smart glasses, CNBC reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
Meta will also introduce its first wristband, which will allow users to control the smart glasses through hand gestures, the report added.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Meta is likely to launch the smart glasses in September at a price of around $800 — about $200 less than earlier estimates.
The device, codenamed Hypernova, will feature an augmented-reality display in the right lens, allowing wearers to view apps, notifications, and other content. Users will also be able to control the content via the wristband.
The glasses are expected to run on a customized version of Android, similar to other Meta devices, and will likely include dedicated apps for taking photos, accessing maps, and more.
