Even though the times are tough for bricks and mortar businesses, fast-moving technology and a new generation of shoppers have created opportunities that were either left untapped or did not exist before.

Google had been keeping a track of every single purchase you ever made, even if you purchased it from non-Google portals such as an offline store or from Amazon, in a secret web tool.

Called Purchases, Google has a dedicated web tool accessible at myaccount.google.com/purchases, showing details on the date, item purchased, amount, and fulfillment, all from years ago.

The data is extracted from the purchase receipts that one receives in their linked Gmail account, CNBC reported.

What makes this data collection problematic is that there is no easy way to get rid of the list of items you have bought in the past. To delete an entry, you have to delete the email. Google says the section is accessible to only the user and it does not use the data to serve you ads.
