A great start for the franchise on Mobile and it runs very well!

Command and Conquer Rivals brings the classic franchise to mobile in a format mobile gamers are familiar with.

Command and Conquer, the legendary PC RTS franchise has been on a haitus for quite a while. While there is no sight of a new entry on PC, EA just introduced a surprisingly good mobile spin off.

Command and Conquer Rivals brings the classic franchise to mobile in a format mobile gamers are familiar with. The game features the standard GDI vs NOD faceoff and you’re allowed to choose from one of six possible commanders, each with their own unique building or unit.

Players must create a deck of six units and in game action is a little different from the likes of Clash Royale. Much like the classic PC game you must first collect tiberium using harvesters, build factories etc and then create the units. To win you must destroy the enemy command centre, but there are two ways to do this; a straight out assault with heavy units or take control of majority control points on the map to arm a neutral nuclear missile. This takes up half of the enemy HP in one hit, but takes quite a while to arm.

The best thing about CNC rivals is that it plays very well on mobile but still maintains to hold on to it’s identity as a Command and Conquer game. From the buildings and units to even the audio design; everything feels it’s right in place.
My only concern with CNC Rivals right now is the balance; it takes a while to unlock NOD but once you do they’re just so overpowered in the end game with their EPIC cards scaling better than the GDI. Plus the grind to level up cards can be quite tricky after level 15 if you’re not super dedicated or skilled and averse to spending money. But at the end of the day it is a free to play game, so it does lean towards getting an advantage if you pay enough but it’s not a pay to win per say.

In terms of performance, the game doesn’t need a high spec phone but you can enjoy it really well if you play on a supported device.

Overall, I’m very happy with Command and Conquer Rivals, definitely worth checking out if you’re a fan of the franchise or enjoy games like Clash Royale and want a change.
