Mortal Kombat 11 was officially unveiled with an April 23, 2019 release date.

The Game Awards is an annual event that celebrates the best games of the year, along with trailers of previously announced titles in addition to revealing new ones for the very first time. This year’s show was filled with multiple exciting announcements, and while many were expected to be featured, there were a few surprises along the way.

Mortal Kombat 11 was officially unveiled with an April 23, 2019 release date. A brand new game in the Dragon Age franchise was teased, featuring the tag line “The Dread Wolf Rises”. This is a reference to the shocking ending of the third DLC of Dragon Age Inquisition, which essentially is a set up for the fourth game. Far Cry: New Dawn was announced a stand-alone sequel that continues the story of Far Cry 5. It is set in a post-apocalypse universe and will not be fully priced when it launches on February 15, 2019

After the success of the Crash Bandicoot remake collection, a re-release of Crash Team Racing was confirmed and is expected on June 21, 2019. The most surprising announcement of the show came from a collaboration between Atlus and Nintendo, as they confirmed that the protagonist of Persona 5, also known as Joker, to be the first DLC character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Obsidian Entertainment which was recently purchased by Microsoft, announced that their new game will be a multiplatform title published by a division of Take Two Interactive. Titled The Outer Worlds, it’s a science fiction RPG set in a world where mega-corporations have begun colonising alien planets. From the trailer it looks quite interesting, but the gameplay is where it will need to win everyone over.

We saw new trailers of a bunch of games that are coming next year, including Crackdown 3, Devil May Cry 5, Anthem, Rage 2 and many more. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, Hades from Supergiant, The Last Campfire from Hello Games and Atlas from the creators of Ark were among the other notable announcements.

The Game Awards is essentially a second E3 of the year. A good combination of brand new big budget games in addition to DLC, remasters and indie titles for gamers to drool over each year and it looks like we’ve got an exciting few months ahead of us.
