Rejoice! Disney+ may come to India by next year

Disney's new content streaming service has already managed over 10 million subscribers within only a week of its launch.

Walt Disney’s latest offering streaming service Disney+ is all set to come to India by next year, says a report by news portal Tech Crunch . Sources close to development, revealed to the news portal that the service would come after the conclusion of the IPL season next year. They also disclosed that this would take place through their recently acquired platform Hotstar.

Disney’s new content streaming service has already managed over 10 million subscribers within only a week of its launch.  While currently Disney+ is only available in US and Canada, it plans on expanding to Australia, to Australia and New Zealand next week, and the UK., Germany, Italy, France and Spain on March 31.

But that wouldn’t be all, according to the article. Dinsey also plans on rolling out this new online platform to south asian nations like Indonesia, Malaysia and of course India, although by later next year. The report further states that the roll out might be accompanied by a price increase in hotstar’s subscription fee, going up to USD 30 for a year or, Rs 2,149. Hotstar meanwhile, refused to comment on the news.
