Securing lives through AI-based smart security devices

The world, as we know today, is a dangerous place to live in. With rising cases of theft, mishaps and terrorist attacks world over, security of our near ones has become a matter of grave concern. In India, the rate of crime against children and women is intolerably high and continues to rise. Statistics show that a child goes missing every eight minutes and a woman is raped every fifteen minutes.

Considering the precarious times we are living in, it becomes important to invest in the safety and security of our loved ones and possessions. The missing children fall prey to killing, sexual abuse, trafficking and child labour and become lifelong victims of physical, mental and emotional trauma. They are robbed of their childhood forever.  

It is here that technology comes to our rescue and helps us safeguard our loved ones. It is omnipresent and has become an integral part of our lives. We can foster a better, smarter and a safer tomorrow with the use of best technologies. And Fitnano Technologies, a Delhi based start-up is doing exactly through its artificial intelligence-based products for the safety of children. Fitnano was incorporated by a team of IIT, IIM and IIFT alumnus in the year 2015. Since its inception, the company has been developing such innovative products using breakthrough technologies. The tech startup is being supported by Electropreneur Park, an incubation centre funded by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

‘Kidfit’is an SOS enabled smart GPS watch for children. Parents can get connected to their children through their smartphones to access their location, make and receive calls as well as messages. Children in distress can press the SOS button on the watch to notify parents of any threat.

An artificial intelligence based ‘Smart Security System’ for educational institutes and offices is another product developed by Fitnano. The unique system tracks the movement of students within the campus and generates notifications on mobile apps if an exception is generated. The campus is divided into zones- safe, restricted and danger zones, wherein, water tank, construction site, swimming pool, DG set etc. are included in the danger zones. The moment a student enters that area the system generates a sound and mobile app based alarm.

This smart security system also automates the attendance and notifies management if a student skips a class or school. In addition to it, the system also provides bus boarding and de-boarding information to parents as well as its location.

As compared to popular security measures like CCTV camera and passive RFID systems used for investigations, Fitnanos’ ‘Smart Security System’ provides safety through real-time monitoring based on AI and ML.
