happn today announced that it will be launching a new feature in the coming weeks. The leading global dating app that initiates real-life connections will provide yet another opportunity to boost chance encounters. “CrushTime,” which is currently in its beta testing phase, will create another layer of discovery for happn users.

How happn works

Harnessing real-time hyper-geolocation technology, happn displays a timeline of the people users cross paths with throughout their day. Once you cross paths with an individual you like, you can like their profile secretly with the “Heart” button. They won't find out unless the interest is mutual – meaning they’ve liked you as well. If it is mutual, then you have a “Crush”! An in-app conversation can then ensue… If you don’t want to wait, notify the person and use the “Say Hi” button to show someone you’re interested. If they accept, it’s a “Crush” and you can start chatting in-app.

How CrushTime works

The idea of yet another chance at destiny is the foundation for CrushTime. It will provide you with the profiles of four people whom you’ve recently crossed paths with. One of these fellow users will have liked your profile – and you get to guess who. The feature will come into play when you least expect it, just like chance.

CrushTime was developed by happn after a design thinktank session held in early 2017 with Google. “CrushTime reinforces our company manifesto to ‘Make chance happn,’ adding another tool to optimize chance and empower our users to make the best out of fortuitous encounters. In order to further support our manifesto, we have introduced artificial intelligence into our system, innovating the app to enrich the experience of our users,” said Didier Rappaport, sCEO and co-founder of happn.

The imminent launch of the new feature comes on the heels of a year of expansive growth for happn. In April 2017, the French startup officially launched in India, and experienced a significant surge in new registered users worldwide – so much so that happn currently reaches 33 million users around the world. happn expects its number of registered users to continue to increase exponentially, along with user satisfaction, thanks in part to AI technology that happn has developed in-house and recently activated.

In January 2017, happn implemented its own AdServing platform – to diversify their revenues on a global and regional scale – to market native and programmatic display inventory, which has attracted advertisers such as Ikea, Coca-Cola and BMW.
