Google has added a new feature to its Gmail app which makes it more convenient to use than before. On Gmail for Android, you can now customise swipe actions. For instance, you can choose whether a right swipe archives a mail or marks it as read, The Verge reported. You can choose to tailor the gestures from the settings menu in the app and then choosing 'swipe actions.'

In simpler terms, the new update comes as part of Gmail's updated version 8.5.20 that will include the delete, archive, mark as read or unread, move to and snooze options, according to a report by Android Police.

"Pick the ones you want and when you browse any inbox or folder inside Gmail, a simple swipe in each direction will perform your chosen action," the report asserted.

The cited source asserts the new update has been rolling out over the past week, so you should witness it soon if you don't already. However, the option has not come to iOS as yet.
