The launch of iPhone X took everyone by surprise, including the app developers. The anniversary edition iPhone features a taller screen and aspect ratio along with the removal of the iconic home button. Not to forget the notch above the display taking away some of the screen real estate. It was expected that developers will take some time to optimise their apps in line with the new layout and UI navigation gestures.

Google has been doing just that, slowly but surely and finally, Google has pushed out the update for Gmail which makes use of the handset's full display, including the right and left sides of its notch.

Alongside iPhone X support, the new Gmail update adds the ability to use non-Google (third-party) email accounts - this is something that's been available on Gmail for Android for years now.

The updated app is live now in the App Store.
