Google has unveiled Gemini Spark, a 24/7 personal AI agent, for users in India.
In a blog post, Google said Gemini Spark will work in the background even when a laptop is closed or a smartphone is locked. The feature will roll out to Google AI Pro subscribers in India over the next few weeks.
Powered by Gemini 3.6 Flash, Spark runs on Google's cloud infrastructure, allowing it to connect seamlessly with Google Workspace apps such as Gmail, Docs, and Sheets.
Unlike a chatbot that simply answers questions, Spark can remember instructions and complete tasks on a user's behalf in the background. "Gemini Spark fundamentally shifts AI from a reactive assistant that answers your questions into an active partner that gets real work done for you, even while you're sleeping," Google said in the blog post.
According to Google, Spark operates under the user's direction. Users can choose whether to enable the feature and decide which apps it can access. The company also said Spark is designed to seek user approval before performing "high-stakes actions" such as spending money or sending emails.
The company said Spark is designed to save users time by handling repetitive digital work automatically. It can also learn from a user's instructions to perform tasks in a preferred way, reducing the need to repeat the same prompts. Google said users remain in control of the AI agent and can review or approve important actions before they are carried out.
