Microsoft's mixed reality HoloLens headset could soon be used by the US Army to keep a tab on the enemies.

According to a filing with the General Services Administration, Microsoft has been awarded a USD 480 million contract to supply the US Army with the prototype HoloLens systems for use in combat missions and training, Cnet reported.

The contract could lead to the military purchasing over 100,000 HoloLens headsets as part of a program to enhance the ability to detect, decide, and engage before the enemy. Unlike virtual reality, HoloLens-like mixed augmented reality headsets overlay information on real environments.
