Mumbai: Whether children are away from home or senior citizens are stepping out alone, families can now access location tracking and SOS alerts in one place. Jio has launched JioShield, offering a range of features designed to support both physical and online family safety, including location tracking, SOS alerts, screen-time management, and app and contact controls.
With JioShield, parents can track their children's location and receive important safety alerts. They will also be notified when the phone's battery is running low. For children, parents can control which apps and contacts they can access and how much time they spend on screens. This allows parents to monitor and manage their children's online activities. The same features can also help families stay connected with elderly parents and assist them when needed.
Setting up the service on mobile phones is simple. Parents need to install the JioThings app on their phones and the JioShield app on the child's or senior citizen's phone. Once the two apps are connected, parents can manage location tracking, screen time, apps, and contacts from their own phones.

 JioShield is priced at ₹1,000 per year, averaging approximately ₹83 per month, with a one-time payment of ₹1,000 required. As part of Jio's 10th anniversary offer, customers will receive Jio recharge vouchers worth a total of ₹1,000. Based on this benefit, the company is positioning the service as effectively free. The offer also includes 12 months of Canva Pro, valued at ₹4,000, and a 28-day Unlimited 5G upgrade.

The ₹1,000 recharge vouchers will be issued in 10 denominations of ₹100 each and can be redeemed when recharging with Unlimited 5G plans priced at ₹399 or above. The offer has been available since September 26.
The child's or senior citizen's phone must run Android 10 or above and have an active Jio number. The JioThings app for parents is currently available on Android, with the iOS version scheduled to become available from October 1.
