Apple Pushes AI Smart Glasses Release to End of 2027
Initially, Apple had planned to unveil the smart glasses by the end of 2026 and begin shipping them in early 2027
Tech giant Apple has been working on AI smart glasses, which were initially expected to launch by the end of next year. However, the launch is now reportedly facing a delay.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s AI smart glasses are now expected to launch by the end of 2027. In his Power On newsletter, Gurman said that Apple has encountered "some bumps" during the development process. Initially, Apple had planned to unveil the smart glasses by the end of 2026 and begin shipping them in early 2027.
As per Gurman, Apple’s smart glasses will feature oval-shaped cameras, multiple colour options, and a variety of frame styles. “Over time, Apple believes the glasses could evolve into a health device and eventually incorporate augmented reality technologies capable of enhancing how people see,” he wrote.
The AI-powered smart glasses are also expected to feature an upgraded Siri and visual intelligence capabilities but it will not support augmented reality (AR).
Apart from the smart glasses, Apple is reportedly working on a more affordable version of the Vision Pro headset, dubbed the Vision Air. According to Gurman, the Vision Air could launch in late 2028 or 2029. The device is expected to be a slimmer and lighter version of the Vision Pro.
