Apple is reportedly planning to launch an affordable MacBook, with production set to begin soon.
According to a report by 9to5Mac, the new MacBook could be priced at $599 or $699 (approximately ₹52,000 or ₹61,000 in India) — lower than the current MacBook Air.
The report suggests the low-cost MacBook may feature an A18 Pro chip instead of Apple’s M-series processors. The A18 Pro, currently used in the high-end iPhone 16 Pro models, would mark a rare instance of Apple equipping a Mac with an iPhone chipset.
The device is expected to sport a 12.9-inch display, slightly smaller than the 13.6-inch MacBook Air. Apple reportedly aims to expand its Mac lineup to offer more price points, similar to its iPad range.
The 12.9-inch MacBook could launch in late 2025 or early 2026, the report added.
Separately, Apple is expected to unveil its iPhone 17 lineup — including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max — on September 9. Alongside the new iPhones, the company is also likely to introduce the Apple Watch SE 3, Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and AirPods Pro 3.
