Will Ranbir-Sai’s Ramayan Be Overshadowed by AI?
Producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari’s super-ambitious Ramayan project has suddenly hit an unexpected roadblock
Cinefai, a Mumbai-based production house specializing in AI-generated content, is making waves with its own adaptation of the Ramayana, created entirely using artificial intelligence tools. The studio recently released the first episode digitally — and it has stunned viewers with a visual richness that could prove hard for the live-action feature film, slated for next year, to match.
And all this at a fraction — an atomic fraction, even — of the budget of the big-screen Ramayan starring Ranbir Kapoor!
In their announcement, Cinefai stated:
“This is our own original Ramayana series — rooted in the epic, powered by cinematic visuals, and told in pure Hindi. The journey of Ram, Sita, Lakshman, and Ravan begins here. As the world talks about Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming Ramayana, we offer a raw, immersive experience that stands on its own. If you’re searching for Hindi Ramayana content, mythological trailers, or new Indian epics in 2025 — this is your moment.”
The sudden drop of this AI-powered version has reportedly left the big-screen team huddling for urgent damage control.
Says a source close to the development, “The AI version of the Ramayan is excellently packaged and visually striking. What’s more, its characters aren’t bound by preconceived public images. That’s the big challenge facing Namit Malhotra’s film — will audiences accept Ranbir Kapoor as Bhagwan Shri Ram? Also, with the AI version releasing a whole year ahead of the film, it has definitely thrown a spanner in the works. The producers are now strategizing their next move carefully.”
