Why Nelson Said No to Rajini’s Request

Rajinikanth revealed dur ing a promotional event for Jailer 2 that he had requested director Nelson Dilipkumar to include a special song featuring Tamannaah Bhatia, following the massive success of ‘Kaavaalaa’ in the first film, Jailer.

However, the director rejected the idea, noting that a song could not be included just because the actor wanted it. Despite the absence of her dance number, the upcoming sequel boasts a star-studded cast, including Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and S.J. Suryah.

Superstar Rajinikanth and Tamannaah created a massive cultural wave with their collaboration in the 2023 blockbuster primarily driven by the chart-topping success of the dance number ‘Kaavaalaa.’

During the Jailer 2 Super Show promotional event, Rajinikanth shared a humorous anecdote, revealing that he had explicitly requested director Nelson Dilipkumar to include a special dance track for Tamannaah in the sequel.Rajinikanth told Nelson that Tamannaah was the “only missing element” in the sequel and suggested including a song for her. Nelson firmly declined, stating, “I can’t keep it just because you like it, sir.”

Rajinikanth quickly clarified with a laugh that he wasn’t asking for his personal preference but rather for what the audience loves. He joked, “If I had done whatever I liked, I would have become irrelevant and gone to Bengaluru.”

While Tamannaah’s iconic dance moves won’t be returning in a new musical track, she is still listed as part of the ensemble cast, reprising her character, Kamna.
