SRK Out, PC In? ‘Don’ Sparks Comeback Buzz
A major casting shift in the action franchise has reignited speculation about the actress’ comeback to Bollywood after a five-year hiatus
Priyanka Chopra Jonas has been away from Bollywood for a good long while. The last Hindi film she did was Shonali Bose’s The Sky Is Pink in 2019, in which she co-starred with Farhan Akhtar. And now, the Farhan link continues, as she’s tipped to return to his actioner franchise with Don 3.
“It is happening,” a source very close to Farhan Akhtar told this writer. “You see, as long as Shah Rukh Khan helmed the franchise, there was no possibility of her (Priyanka) being part of part 3. Once SRK opted out, the chances of her return grew exponentially.”
Priyanka’s return to Hindi cinema has been talked of for some time. She was promised the lead in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi. When she lost the prized part to Alia Bhatt, Priyanka was very upset with the director. Some recent reports of Priyanka and Bhansali reuniting for a project proved to be false.
Interestingly Priyanka had already been pencilled in for Jee Le Zara by Farhan Akhtar.
