SRK & Atlee To Team Up for Tamil Film
With a Rs 300-cr Mythri venture and an Rs 1000-cr Sukumar epic in the pipeline, SRK’s next with Atlee
Shah Rukh Khan is expanding his box-office stronghold into the South. Sources confirm SRK has asked Tamil director Atlee to work on a subject that would cater predominantly to the South market. The duo will begin work on this project as soon as Atlee’s Raaka is complete.
SRK is strategically bridging the gap between Bollywood and the southern film industries. While his 2013 blockbuster Chennai Express first introduced heavy South Indian cultural elements with a massive local distribution strategy, his 2023 action juggernaut Jawan served as the official gateway to the core South market. Building on that success, his latest strategic moves include a `300-crore venture with Mythri Movie Makers and a colossal pan-India project to be directed by Pushpa filmmaker Sukumar. The latter is expected to carry a staggering budget of `800 to `1,000 crore, eclipsing the scale records set by RRR. SRK is also in advanced discussions for future ventures with other top-tier directors, including KGF and Salaar director Prashanth Neel.
